Cash, jewellery, a laptop and other valuables worth approximately Rs 1.25 crore were allegedly stolen during a midnight burglary at the Jaipur residence of BJP MLA and former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Singhvi.

The incident, which took place around 2 am on Wednesday, was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the premises. The footage shows a suspect dressed in black sneaking into the house and later leaving without being noticed by anyone.

Singhvi, who represents the Chhabra Assembly constituency, was reportedly away in his constituency when the burglary took place.

The incident raises serious questions on common man’s safety and the authorities’ ability to preventing such thefts considering that the MLA’s residence is not only heavily guarded but is also located on Hari Marg, behind the Raj Bhavan (Governor’s House) in Jaipur.

The intruder allegedly took advantage of the MLA's absence to enter the house and make off with valuables before escaping.

The CCTV footage has emerged as a key piece of evidence in the case. The suspect, dressed entirely in black, can be seen moving through the premises during the night.

The footage captures the intruder entering the house, sneaking into what looked like the kitchen area before entering another room. Police are examining the recordings to identify the suspect and establish the sequence of events leading up to the theft.

Following information about the burglary, a team from the Sodala police station reached the residence and inspected the premises.

The police began collecting evidence and investigating the circumstances under which the intruder gained access to the house.

Sodala Station House Officer (SHO) Manoj Bairwal said police personnel inspected the premises after receiving information about the incident.

Preliminary findings indicated that cash and valuables had been stolen. Investigators are now working to establish the identity of the person seen in the CCTV footage and trace the stolen property.

The reported value of the stolen items, estimated at approximately Rs 1.25 crore, makes the burglary a significant theft case.

The stolen property reportedly includes cash, jewellery, a laptop and other valuables. The precise details of the items taken and their individual values are yet to be established through the ongoing investigation.

Investigators are also expected to examine other evidence gathered from the premises as they work to reconstruct the burglary.

The investigation is ongoing, with the identification of the suspect, recovery of the stolen valuables and determination of how the intruder accessed the residence remaining key priorities for the police.
