1 dead, 3 injured as old two-storey house collapses in Ahmedabad

One person was killed, and three others were injured after an old two-storey house collapsed in Ahmedabad’s Khadia area on Sunday afternoon, trapping four people under the debris.
The victim is identified as 45-year-old Sonal Rana, who lived on the first floor of the house. She was rescued from the debris and taken to LG Hospital, where she was declared dead, resident medical officer Aalap Shah told news agency PTI.
The collapse occurred in a narrow lane in Khadia, a fire department official told PTI. Rescue teams pulled out two people immediately, while two women were rescued later after the debris was cleared.
All the rescued persons were taken to hospitals in ambulances. The injured were identified as Janvi Rana, 27, Parth Rana, 23, and Ashaben, 42. The three are presently under treatment.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear. A probe has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the collapse.
