The iPhone 18 Pro series is now officially on sale in India. India Today Tech talked to buyers at the Apple Store in Noida. Among the buyers was one Delhi man who claimed that he had sold gold to buy an iPhone for his wife.

The iPhone 18 Pro is now on sale in India. As is the case every year, the hype was real. Even before the stores opened, there were long queues outside as buyers couldn’t wait to get their hands on the latest iPhones. India Today Tech visited the Apple Store in Noida to talk to some buyers. One of whom claimed that he had sold gold just to buy an iPhone 18 Pro for his wife.

Before the Apple Store opened at 8 am, there was a long queue outside the DLF Mall of India. At the front of the queue was a Delhi man who talked to us. He wanted to give his wife an iPhone 18 Pro. “Main ye wife ke liye lene aaya hun ( I am buying the iPhone 18 Pro for my wife),” he said. His wife, he said, had told him to get the iPhone 18 Pro in Burgundy colour.

Buyers were waiting outside for hours before the Apple Store opened.

He then told us that his wife was not an iPhone user and he wanted to give her this upgrade. When asked why he waited for the iPhone 18 Pro in particular, he said, “Aaj paisa hai, pehle nahi tha, aage hoga nahi hoga, bas aaj main jee rahe hai (at that time, I didn't have that money, now I do, In the coming time, whether we will have money or not, we’ll see.)”

To make this purchase though, the Delhi man admitted that he had actually sold gold. “Gold bechke he toh ye lene aaye hai. (I sold gold to buy the iPhone 18 Pro)."

After the store opened, there were still queues outside as people waited for their turn.

Punjab man comes to Noida to buy iPhone 18 Pro for fiance

It seems that gifting the iPhone 18 Pro to your loved one was something many wanted to do. Gurdita Singh, a man from Punjab, had come all the way to Noida with his friend to get the iPhone 18 Pro for his fiance. Gurdita’s friend told us, “He is getting married soon, he is buying the iPhone 18 Pro as a gift for his fiance.” The two had been waiting outside the store since 6 am.

But Gurdita Singh added that he was buying the iPhone 18 Pro Max for himself too, stating that he had spent over Rs 3.5 lakh for the two phones. After buying the phones, he planned to go back to Punjab with his train scheduled for 11 am.

Couple gets iPhone 18 Pro together, plan to buy iPhone Duo next

There was a woman who had come to buy two iPhone 18 Pro phones with her husband. When asked about the higher price for the iPhone 18 Pro compared to last year, she replied, “The price has increased but the iPhone lovers or those who want an iPhone will pay the higher price.”

The couple had prebooked the iPhone 18 Pro on September 12.

And the couple intended to buy the iPhone Duo too. Though the iPhone Duo, they said, would be bought by their friend in Hong Kong. “ A friend is in Hong Kong, he will bring it on his way back in October,” the woman said.

The store was crowded as buyers received their new iPhones.

Vishal, a man from Haryana, also chimed in on the price hike. However, he claimed that he was unbothered even if the prices continued to increase. “Koi dikkat nahi, manage karlenge (No problem, I will manage),” he said.

There were also queues of students, businesspersons, and employees who were waiting to get their hands on the iPhone 18 Pro. Some even had taken leave from work just to get it today.

Some had not pre-ordered the iPhone 18 Pro and were not allowed to enter the store.

But not everyone was able to get their hands on the iPhone 18 Pro. Those who had not pre-ordered the device were not allowed to make a purchase today. One person said, “Hume pata nahi tha, ab dekhte hai paise denge ghusne ke liye (I didn’t know we had to pre-order, now I might try giving money).”
