Renault Kiger line-up expanded, turbo range now starts at Rs 7.89 lakh

Renault India has revised the Kiger line-up with new variants and additional features, making the turbo-petrol version more accessible while expanding buyer choice across both naturally aspirated and turbocharged powertrains.

Renault India has expanded the Kiger range with the introduction of new variants across both naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol powertrains, providing some more features and has made the turbocharged engine more accessible.

The updated Kiger line-up now includes the new Evolution+ variant in three configurations – naturally aspirated manual, naturally aspirated AMT and turbo manual, while the Techno trim has gained a new turbo manual option. With these additions, Renault says the Kiger Turbo is now the most affordable turbocharged SUV in the entry-level sub-compact SUV segment, with prices starting at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

The biggest change is the introduction of the Evolution+ variant, positioned between the existing Evolution and Techno trims. It brings features that were previously available on higher variants, including push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone connectivity, driver seat height adjustment and light embossed fabric upholstery.

The move also expands customer choice across both engine options. The naturally aspirated Kiger range has grown from six to eight variants, while the turbo-petrol line-up now consists of five variants instead of three.

Another notable update is the addition of a 5-speed manual gearbox to the Techno Turbo variant. Previously, buyers opting for the turbocharged engine had fewer transmission and variant combinations to choose from.

Mechanically, the Kiger remains unchanged. The turbocharged version continues with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 100bhp, paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or Renault's X-Tronic CVT automatic. The naturally aspirated variants continue with the 1.0-litre petrol engine offered with manual and AMT transmission options.

The Kiger retains key attributes such as 205 mm ground clearance, a 405-litre boot, functional roof rails with a 50 kg load capacity and a spacious cabin layout.
