Elephant attack leaves couple critically injured in Odisha’s Baleshwar

Soro: A couple was critically injured after they were trampled by a tusker in Soro of Odisha’s Baleshwar district on Saturday night.

The injured have been identified as Arun Bindhani and his wife Mamuni Bindhani of Baghampuda village.

As per reports, the couple was returning to their home when a wild elephant ran them over near a road.

The tusker first attacked Arun while he ran towards a safe space beneath the elephant but unfortunately his waist and chest got severely injured in the mishap.

Later, Mamuni Bindhani’s front was blocked by the elephant and then the beast forcefully threw her in the air causing multiple injuries.

On their critical condition, they didn’t get the ambulance on time and with the help of the forest officials the couple was rushed to the Soro Hospital in an auto rickshaw late night.

Both are currently undergoing treatment.

At present, the tusker is roaming in a forest close to the village and locals have been asked to be caution.
