Tiger Hide Seized, 8 Arrested in Rayagada During Illegal Wildlife Trade Deal, Watch

Rayagada: Eight people were arrested and a tiger hide was seized on Saturday after the Forest Department raided a house where an illegal wildlife trade deal was underway in Rayagada district, Odisha.

According to officials, the raid was conducted today at Belkana village under Kalyansinghpur forest range while bargaining for the illegal sale of the hide was in progress.

The operation was led by Forest Ranger Sachidananda Parida and Forester Shivaprasad Mohapatra, based on specific inputs received by the department.

The forest team arrested 3 people from Kalahandi district and 5 people from Rayagada district at the spot. Officials also seized 3 motorcycles and several mobile phones used in coordinating the illegal deal.

Forest officials said the accused will be interrogated and then forwarded to court today.
