Baliguda ITDA AEE in Vigilance Net, Rs 2 Crore Cash Found in Bank Lockers During Raids

Bhubaneswar/Baliguda: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday launched simultaneous raids at 9 locations linked to Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer of ITDA Baliguda, over allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.

As per latest reports, approximately Rs 2 crore cash has been recovered from his bank lockers so far.

Acting on a warrant issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, Bhubaneswar, a team led by 2 Additional SPs, 5 DSPs and 6 Inspectors of Cuttack Vigilance conducted raids since morning. Two teams are currently searching Behera’s office chamber and government quarter in Baliguda while interrogating him.

Raids are also underway at his properties in Bhubaneswar – a 4-storey and 2-storey house in Chandrasekharpur, a 3-storey house in Sailashree Vihar, and a 2-storey house in Kanan Vihar, Patia. His ancestral two-storey house near Pandura, close to Dharmasala College in Jajpur district, and a relative’s residence at Deulasahi, Baripada are also being searched.

During searches of bank lockers linked to the officer, vigilance sleuths recovered around Rs 2 crore in cash. Counting of the cash through bank note counting machines is still in progress at the time of filing this report.
