Forest Range Officer Sukumar Dukhu nabbed with Rs 2.33 lakh suspected ill-gotten cash

Nabarangpur: Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sukumar Dukhu, the Forest Range Officer of Gudari Range in Rayagada district, while he was carrying Rs 2.33 lakh suspected ill-gotten cash today.

A team of Odisha Vigilance officials intercepted the Gudari Forest Range Officer near Indrabati Bridge in Nabarangpur while he was travelling from Gudari to his residential house at Senapati Street in Nabarangpur in his office vehicle (Bolero).

During inspection of the vehicle, the vigilance sleuths recovered Rs.2.33 Lakh suspected ill-gotten cash recovered from his possession. As Dukhu failed to explain satisfactorily the source of the cash recovered from him, the entire cash along with the Bolero Vehicle bearing Regd No- OD18K-7041 was seized.

Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches have been launched on residential house located at Senapati Street, Nabarangpur, residential Govt. quarter at Gumuda and office room at Gudari in Rayagada district.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS case No.03 dated 12.04.2026 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (b)/ 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Sukumar Dukhu.

Meanwhile, the Forest Range Officer was arrested and he will be forwarded to the Court.

The investigation of the case is in progress.
