The fire, which started around 3:00 AM, gutted the fish market and razed more than 30 shops. The fire also gutted a branch of the Bank of India nearby, creating panic in the area.
Initial investigations suggested that a short circuit may have triggered the Press Chhak fire, which also resulted in property losses worth lakhs of rupees.
The two successive fires have spread panic among the residents in Cuttack.
