70-year-old woman gang-raped in Rajasthan, 2 arrested

Jaipur: A 70-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two people in her house in Rajasthan’s Alwar district.

The incident took place on the night of July 21. According to the survivor’s complaint, she was asleep in her room at around 10.30 pm when two men allegedly barged into her house and committed the crime.

Meanwhile, the woman’s son, who was in the house, woke up after hearing her cries for help. The two accused allegedly fled the spot before they could be caught.

The accused has been identified as Moradhwaj, son of Birdhi Jatav, and Bacchu, son of Nanga Jogi.

The survivor alleged that the main accused raped her while the second accused assisted him during the assault.

Following the incident, the police treated the complaint with urgency and immediately launched an operation under the supervision of Kherli Station House Officer. Both accused were arrested within 30 minutes of the complaint being registered.

The police said that both the accused are neighbours of the survivor. They have been produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

The investigators also summoned a mobile forensic team to the crime scene, collected scientific evidence, conducted the survivor’s medical examination and recorded her statement before a magistrate.

The investigation is underway.
