Amazon to invest $48 billion in India by 2030 after CEO meets PM Modi

New Delhi: Amazon announced a plan to invest $48 billion (nearly ₹4 lakh crore) in India over five years, from 2026 to 2030, following CEO Jassy and Narendra Modi

This move highlights Amazon’s commitment to the country over the long term.

Part of this new commitment, worth $13 billion, will be used to build additional artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure.

AWS will expand its data centre presence in both Mumbai and Hyderabad to better assist the startups, enterprises, and government bodies in the nation.

Other investments by Amazon are expected to strengthen its e-commerce presence in the country by expanding its fulfilment network, logistics infrastructure, and physical capabilities.

Through this new commitment, Amazon’s total planned investment in India will climb beyond $88 billion from 2010 through 2030.

During the meetings between Modi and Jassy, the discussions focused on India’s growing digital economy, startup space, and the role of technology in economic progress.
