Kikilias: All fires in Ilia were dealt with after massive effort and immediate mobilization of firefighters

All the firest that broke out in Ilia prefecture were dealt with after "a massive and immediate mobilization of firefighters," Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias said in a post on X on Friday evening.

In his post, the minister specifically said, "With gusts of wind registering 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale, and within a few hours, 9 (!) fires broke out in the prefecture of Ilia. With a massive and immediate mobilization of firefighters, all fires were dealt with. Especially at the fire that broke out in Geraki of Amaliada, Civil Protection forces waged a tough battle, while one of our firefighters from the 6th Forest Commando Team was seriously injured in his leg. I wish him a speedy recovery from my heart and thank all the men and women of the Fire Department for their professionalism and self-denial. In terms of the cause of fires, a team of the Fire Department's arson investigation unit has already arrived in Ilia."
