Locals demand new post office in Kithaganur

by · Bangalore Mirror

The residents of Kithaganur have pointed out the need for improved postal services as the locality lacks its own post office. Currently, residents rely on the post offices in KR Puram and Virgonagar, which are situated over three to four kilometres away. This distance poses significant challenges for the growing population, particularly for senior citizens and those dependent on regular postal transactions.

In response, residents of Kithaganur have submitted a formal request to the local panchayat and postal authorities, urging the establishment of a dedicated post office in their area. They highlighted the locality’s burgeoning population, which includes an increasing number of residential apartments, houses, schools, and commercial establishments, all of which depend on efficient postal services.

“Accessing postal services has become inconvenient due to the distance. Kithaganur’s population is growing rapidly, and a local post office is essential for meeting the needs of residents and businesses,” said a resident of Kithaganur.

The lack of a nearby post office has been a longstanding concern for Kithaganur, particularly as the area continues to attract new housing developments and businesses. Residents argue that a local post office would not only enhance convenience but also support the efficient functioning of services such as courier deliveries, savings schemes, and government-related documentation processes.

Area arrangements for post office

To strengthen their plea, residents have proposed offering suitable premises within the locality to accommodate the new post office. “We are ready to provide space for a post office in our office building or nearby premises to facilitate this initiative. This demonstrates our commitment to making this happen for the benefit of the community,” the letter read.
