New Harley Sprint 440 Cruiser Production Starts – Launch Soon
by Akshay Kulkarni · RushLaneHarley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp partnership has spawned the Harley X440 in the country and last year, we saw the launch of Harley X440 T version, which is now the new top-spec variant with improved production quality and revised design. After the X440 Roadster, Hero and Harley have come up with a new Cruiser-format motorcycle.
Called Sprint 440, this upcoming Cruiser-format motorcycle will lock horns with Royal Enfield’s Meteor 350, offering American Cruiser aesthetics, a larger engine and more tech and features. Production of Harley Sprint 440 seems to have started and a launch is likely to happen very soon.
Harley Sprint 440 Production Starts
After the X440, Hero and Harley duo have geared up to launch an all-new motorcycle based on the 440 platform. There have been multiple teasers and then a few leaked pictures revealed more about this upcoming motorcycle. Now, latest spy shots come from Reddit user xtremeAnkit and these pictures are from the manufacturing facility, suggesting that production has started.
When compared to the X440, the new Harley Sprint 440 cruiser bike looks like it is designed to offer much more relaxed posture to the rider. Cruising is the main objective with Harley Sprint 440 and it gets a raised handlebar along with front-set foot pegs for comfortable long drives and highway cruising.
Wheelbase looks like it is longer than X440’s 1,418 mm and this has allowed the seat to be positioned lower than in a typical Roadster style bike. It could retain the same mainframe and subframe as X440, with some modifications and the engine looks like it has more chrome detailing on Sprint 440.
What to expect?
The Bronze elements seen in X440T are missing in Sprint 440. The heel plate is highlighted in Silver in Sprint 440 and the upcoming cruiser also gets an all-new exhaust which is pointed at the end with a chrome heat shield. The seat is scooped for rider’s comfort and support and we can see Black appliques on fuel tank across its length.
This Black applique on the teardrop shaped fuel tank also engulfs the fuel filler cap. We can see the same portrait-style TFT instrument cluster too. Wheel size could be 18-inch front and 17-inch rear like in the X440 with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. It gets USD front forks, gas-charged rear twin shockers, disc brakes at both ends with dual channel ABS and more.
Powering this engine could be the same 440cc single-cylinder oil-cooled unit with 27 bhp of peak power and 38 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Circular LED headlights, circular LED blinkers and other attributes are present. Spied colours include Black, Grey and Blue. Now that production seems to have started, launch could happen soon.
