Hero’s new retro motorcycle concept previews a potential move into the classic roadster segment, although engine specifications and production plans remain unannounced

Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 has remained a formidable force in India’s motorcycle market despite competition from several manufacturers. Now, Hero MotoCorp appears to be exploring its own interpretation of the classic motorcycle, releasing images of a striking new concept at EICMA 2026.

Classic Proportions, Elaborate Execution

The concept features a rounded fuel tank, circular headlamp, wire-spoke wheels and deeply curved mudguards. A broad, swept-back handlebar and low-looking saddle establish a relaxed visual character.

Its finish is particularly distinctive. Metallic blue bodywork is paired with extensive polished metal surfaces and gold-coloured detailing, including ornate tank inserts carrying Hero branding. A brown strap runs along the centre of the tank, visually connecting it with the saddle.

The brown seat features diamond-pattern stitching, while matching grips continue the theme at the handlebar. These touches give the concept a handcrafted appearance, although the materials and finishes of any eventual production motorcycle could differ considerably.

Modern Lighting Within A Retro Shape

The round headlamp incorporates an H-shaped lighting signature, similar in theme to the unit seen on Hero’s Scrambler Concept. A gold-finished housing extends rearwards around the lamp, supported by sculpted metallic brackets.

At the rear, a small circular tail lamp is integrated into the blue mudguard. The concept also features a compact circular display ahead of the handlebar, although its functionality has not been explained.

The engine area is heavily stylised, with polished covers and prominent gold-coloured fins. A long, low-mounted exhaust runs along the right side, while the images show disc brakes at both ends and a chain final drive. Detailed chassis, suspension and braking specifications remain awaited.

A 350cc Engine Could Provide The Foundation

Hero’s newly unveiled Harley-Davidson X350T, using a downsized version of the partnership’s 440cc engine, provides a potential powertrain route for a future classic motorcycle.

Sharing an engine architecture across different models could allow Hero to develop a distinct retro offering while spreading development and manufacturing costs. However, Hero has not confirmed that this concept uses the X350T’s engine, nor announced its displacement, power, torque or gearbox.

Classic 350 Is The Obvious Benchmark

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 would be a natural benchmark should Hero bring a motorcycle of this kind to market. Honda’s CB350 range and offerings from Jawa and Yezdi have already pursued buyers interested in traditional styling and relaxed riding, while Royal Enfield has retained a strong position.

Taking on the Classic requires more than matching displacement or adding chrome. Engine character, riding comfort, pricing, ownership experience and brand appeal all influence buying decisions in this category.

Hero’s manufacturing scale and extensive reach could support such an entry. The challenge would be translating this show motorcycle’s distinctive appearance into a commercially viable product with its own identity.

Production Plans Still Awaited

The Classic Concept adds another direction to Hero’s EICMA showcase alongside its adventure and scrambler motorcycles. It suggests interest in a broader range of premium motorcycle styles. A Hero-badged Classic 350 challenger is therefore a credible possibility, but production approval, final naming, engine specifications and launch timing remain unconfirmed.
