Nissan Tekton Rear Design Spied Undisguised During TVC Shoot?
by Pearl Daniels · RushLaneAfter Nissan officially teased the upcoming Tekton SUV as Baby Patrol, a new image circulating online appears to reveal the SUV’s rear design completely undisguised. While the image seems to have undergone AI-based sharpening or enhancement, many of the design details align closely with Nissan’s official sketches, suggesting it could indeed be from a genuine TVC shoot.
Nissan Tekton Rear Design Leaks Before 9th July Debut?
At first glance, the image looks unusually sharp for a typical spy shot, indicating that AI enhancement may have been used to improve clarity. However, several elements point towards the image being genuine. Most notably, another vehicle fitted with a camera rig can be seen in the background. Such rigs are commonly used while filming automotive television commercials, supporting claims that the SUV was photographed during a TVC shoot.
Design Matches Official Teasers
The rear styling closely matches the teaser images released earlier by Nissan. A full-width LED light bar stretches across the tailgate, seamlessly connecting the LED tail lamps on either side. The lighting signature appears identical to what Nissan previewed in its official teaser campaign. At the centre sits Nissan logo, while TEKTON lettering is prominently embossed across the lower portion of the tailgate.
The SUV also features a roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated high-mounted stop lamp, rear wiper tucked beneath the spoiler, shark-fin antenna and chunky silver skid plate integrated into the rear bumper. Vertical reflectors positioned near the bumper corners further enhance its rugged SUV stance. The overall design looks upright and muscular, reinforcing Nissan’s positioning of Tekton as a proper midsize SUV.
Shares Underpinnings With Renault Duster
Tekton is based on the same platform underpinning as new Renault Duster. While both SUVs are sharing underpinnings, Nissan has given Tekton a completely different exterior design with unique front and rear styling. The cabin is also expected to feature Nissan-specific themes and equipment levels.
Powertrain options are expected to mirror the Renault Duster lineup. The range is likely to start with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing around 100 PS and 160 Nm, paired with a manual gearbox. Higher variants are expected to get the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine delivering around 163 PS and 280 Nm, offered with both manual and 7-speed DCT transmission options.
Nissan is also expected to introduce a strong hybrid version after the initial launch. The hybrid setup is likely to use a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor, similar to Renault’s E-Tech 160 system. Local production of hybrid components through Horse Powertrain could help Nissan price the hybrid competitively while reducing dependence on imported parts.
