Renault Rafale Hypnotic Debuts – 300 PS Hybrid 4X4, EUR 63,550 (Rs 69 Lakh)

Order books for Renault Rafale Hypnotic will open on 1st October across 14 European markets, with deliveries planned for late 2026

Renault has launched the Rafale Hypnotic special edition, with prices starting at EUR 63,550 (Rs 69 Lakh). At this price point, Rafale Hypnotic is the most expensive Renault SUV ever. It is comparable to entry-level luxury German rivals like the Audi Q5 Sportback, BMW X4, and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. To ensure exclusivity, only 1,500 units of Rafale Hypnotic will be manufactured for European markets.

Renault Rafale Hypnotic – Key highlights

Based on the Atelier Alpine trim, Rafale Hypnotic special edition features an exclusive satin Forest Black shade. This distinctive finish can create subtle reflections like greenish or iridescent under natural light. The SUV has a blacked-out grille and a dark finish for the Renault logo. While the 21-inch wheels are the same as the Atelier Alpine trim, these also get the special satin treatment.

Rafale Hypnotic has gloss black accents on the wheel arches, body cladding, roof spoiler, boot spoiler and rear bumper. Apart from these, most other exterior features are the same as those of the Atelier Alpine trim. Inside, Rafale Hypnotic utilizes a mix of Alcantara and textured fabric upholstery. Seats get premium tricolour stitching with blue, white and red threads.

These seats also have illuminated Alpine emblems. Alcantara treatment can be seen on the dashboard. The dark theme used outside is noticeable in the cabin as well. Every unit of Rafale Hypnotic gets a numbered plaque on the centre console. This number can range from 1/1500 to 1500/1500.

As the new top trim of Rafale lineup, the Hypnotic special edition model gets a range of premium features like LED Matrix vision headlights. Equipment list also includes a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and the Solarbay opacifying panoramic glass roof. The SUV has a 360-degree camera setup, hands free parking, a head-up display, heated front seats, driver’s seat with massaging function and puddle lights.

Performance

Positioned as Renault’s new European flagship SUV, Rafale Hypnotic gets the brand’s most potent powertrain – the 300 hp, Hyper Hybrid / E-Tech 4×4. This plug-in hybrid powertrain comprises a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and three electric motors. The petrol unit generates 150 hp and 230 Nm of torque.

Electric motors include a front unit that generates 70 hp (50 kW) / 205 Nm. The rear motor generates 136 hp (100 kW) / 195 Nm. The third electric motor functions as a high-voltage starter generator with an output of 34 hp (25 kW) / 50 Nm. Rafale Hypnotic has combined system power of 300 hp (221 kW) at 5,500 rpm.

Battery pack used in this plug-in hybrid powertrain is a 22 kWh lithium-ion unit. It allows a pure electric range of 105 km, as per WLTP standards. Total range is up to around 1,000 km. The SUV has an automatic multi-mode dog-clutch gearbox. Permanent all-wheel drive (4×4) is enabled by a rear electric motor. Rafale Hypnotic has a top speed of 180 km/h. It can achieve 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.

Renault Rafale Hypnotic has a price tag of EUR 63,550 (Rs 69 lakh) in France. This makes it EUR 3,300 (Rs 3.60 lakh) costlier than the Atelier Alpine and EUR 7,800 (Rs 8.50 lakh) costlier than the Esprit Alpine variants with the same powertrain.
