I found the perfect £14 buy that keeps every room warm without using central heating

The colder weather has well and truly arrived, but there's no need to reach for the thermostat just yet

Despite the occasional sunshine, the chillier weather has certainly arrived and many of us have been reaching for the thermostat. However, I've found a way to reduce reliance on central heating by introducing thermal curtains in each bedroom.

These curtains not only provide an extra layer of insulation but also enhance the room's aesthetics. The velvet charcoal ones I chose are quite affordable.

For the smaller kids' bedrooms, they cost just £14 a pair, while the set for our bedroom was £27. They're also available in a lighter silver colour or a teddy material in either cream or grey at similar prices.

These curtains can be purchased from the Online Home Shop website, which has received hundreds of five-star reviews. One customer praised the product saying, "Excellent product and value for money and excellent service and excellent quality thank you so much."

Another added, "Excellent quality good with low prices. I have had several items and they are all very good quality," reports the Manchester Evening News.

A third customer said, "Very good, as described, so very cheap, I have always been so pleased with everything I have purchased." However, one customer did mention that they 'don't like the fact the customer has to pay to send things back', so it's worth double-checking your measurements before ordering.

OHS offers a range of products that can help reduce heating bills. Their electric blankets are effective, and their heated hoodies are excellent for staying warm.

These hoodies run on pennies from a small powerbank that fits in the pocket. Once plugged in, the heating elements inside the hoodie start to warm up, with heated pads located on the shoulders, lower back, and behind the front pocket.

The hoodie features three heat settings, which can be adjusted by pressing the power button on the front pocket. The settings range from the lowest 'green' temperature, to medium 'blue', up to the highest 'red'.

After wearing it for a while, the hoodie can be machine washed at 30 degrees, just remember to remove the powerbank first. The shorter style is available in other colours, including charcoal, navy and black, all reduced to £20, and a grey one with a heart print design, priced £29.

Standard UK delivery is £3.95. You can find the curtains and heated hoodies on the OHS website.

Thermal curtains are also available from other retailers, including Amazon, where these charcoal velvet ones cost from £22.99 a pair, or these cream teddy thermal ones cost from £17.99.
