First look inside new 160-seater Greek restaurant now open in Nottingham

Nottingham's newest restaurant is whisking customers away to sunny Greece — at least for an hour or two.
The Greek Brothers has opened its doors in a prime city centre location, with 160 seats over three floors in Albert Street.
The former Awesome Chips & Wings takeaway was gutted and transformed. The yellow and black decor has been replaced with brighter, lighter shades of blue and white, the two colours deeply engrained in Greek culture.
"I want people when they come in and sit here for an hour or two, with Greek music and Greek people talking, and we're very loud, so the atmosphere and everything we're trying to achieve here is like you are on holiday for an hour. That's the idea," said Spyridon Tsichilis, who runs the company with business partner Anthony Christodoulou.
At first glance, the restaurant doesn't look that big, with a row of tables opposite the counter, but upstairs opens up to a bigger space plus even more seating on the second floor.
Spyridon said: "It's a big restaurant. I didn't know if I wanted it to be that big but this is a big city and it gives the opportunity to make the money if it goes well. And if not we can still organise it to work differently.
The Greek Brothers originally opened in Mansfield but the pandemic killed the business. It was reborn in Lincoln 2022, where it's been a big success.
"Lincoln has been really, really good. It's grown from year to year through word of mouth."
Customers will see the rotisserie grills in the open kitchen as soon as they step through the door. The thinly-sliced chicken or pork gyros meat goes into hearty pitta wraps with chips, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki, starting at £6.45. Burgers, halloumi, Greek sausage and lamb kebabs are also served as gyros.
The menu kicks off with cold and hot meze such as olives and pitta, feta in filo pastry, courgette fritters and Greek pork sausages.
Another Greek favourite, skewers of chicken, pork and lamb souvlaki, come on platters with chips, salad and tzatziki.
Can't make up your mind? The mixed grill has it all with gyros, kebab, sausage, pitta and all the trimmings.
Burgers, pork and lamb chops, and skepasti — the Greek version of the club sandwich made with pitta, chicken or pork, salad, cheese and burger sauce — are other options.
Spyridon said: "The top seller is the chicken gyros because some people don't eat pork, but if you're a pork man, pork is the best, the way it's cooked, smoked and spiced correctly, not spicy but fresh herbs like oregano and smoked paprika. It just tastes right.
"Then it's the mixed grill which has everything so everybody is happy with that. It's about keeping it affordable and simple. If you haven't got much money you can have gyros and then the person who makes millions can have a gyros. It doesn't discriminate."
Customers can wash their food down with soft drinks for now but a licence to serve alcohol is pending so ouzo, Greek beer Mythos, and wines are on the cards.
The restaurant, which also offers takeaway, is open seven days a weeks from 11am to 10pm currently to see how busy it is.
