Man arrested over terrifying Nottinghamshire beauty salon raid

A member of staff and customer were inside the salon at the time

A man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a beauty salon was raided by masked intruders. Ayelashes, on Victoria Road in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, was entered by two men demanding cash at around 6.05pm on Tuesday, October 1.

A member of staff and customer were inside the salon at the time. When the staff member said there was no money inside, one of the men reportedly snatched a handbag from the customer and they fled.

The customer's bank card was later used in a transaction at a shop in Sutton-in-Ashfield. After investigating CCTV and making other inquiries, police searched a home in Sutton-in-Ashfield and found a man in a loft.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery. The suspect was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and assault in connection with two separate incidents.

Detective Sergeant Matt Dumbrell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Thankfully nobody was hurt during the robbery but it will have been an upsetting ordeal for both the staff member and customer.

“We never underestimate the psychological impact this sort of offence can have on victims. Officers have been working hard to find out who was responsible and this arrest is an important step. However, I’d urge anyone with any information or relevant footage, and who has not yet spoken to an officer, to please get in touch.”
