'Golden triangle' is home to footballers but nearby village is 1/3 of price
by George Allen, Alycia McNamara · NottinghamshireLiveBucklow Hill, a charming village neighbouring the popular footballer's haven of Prestbury, offers homes at a fraction of the price. With an average house price of £271,500, it stands in stark contrast to Prestbury's hefty average of £735,000.
Both located in rural Cheshire, they are considered desirable locations due to their connectivity to London via train in less than two hours, stunning nearby scenery, and proximity to major cities like Manchester. The 'golden triangle' of Cheshire, comprising Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, and Prestbury, is particularly sought after.
Sofia Da Silva from Savills noted an increased interest in the area, stating: "Demand is up for properties worth more than £4 million but the majority of interest is for properties between £1 million and £2 million from buyers relocating out of London."
However, Bucklow Hill offers many of the same features as the 'golden triangle', but at a much more affordable price - and it's just 15 miles away. The wider area is a favourite among footballers, including Liverpool midfielder Alexis MacAllister who resides in a £3.9 million mansion in Wilmslow, as did former Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson until earlier this year.
Michael Vaughan, former England cricket captain and local pundit, is also a regular at the Wilmslow Padel Club where he plays three times a week, reports the Express.
The area boasts a variety of leisure facilities, including sports venues such as golf courses and high-end gyms, along with a selection of bars and restaurants frequented by celebrities. In recent years, the majority of homebuyers in the area have been from outside Cheshire.
Many appreciate the easy commute to Manchester, making it an ideal location for those who wish to work in the city but reside in a more rural setting. The proximity to the Peak District is another draw for those who enjoy exploring the countryside during their free time.
With its strong sense of community, stunning surrounding landscapes, and convenient location for commuters, it's no wonder this part of England is so popular.
