FBI raids Minneapolis businesses in federal fraud investigation involving Medicaid funding

According to officials cited by CNN, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with other agencies, executed 22 search warrants in the Minneapolis area on Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice said: “Today, the FBI with federal, state and local law enforcement is involved in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.”
Most of the locations targeted appear to be businesses receiving Medicaid funding, including childcare facilities, according to CNN affiliate KARE.
Officials confirmed the operation is not related to immigration enforcement, although Homeland Security Investigations was involved.
The investigation follows allegations of misuse of federal funds by some businesses, which have also been the subject of a recent congressional hearing.
Authorities have not released further details about the nature of the alleged fraud or any potential charges.
The situation remains under investigation, with more updates expected as officials continue their inquiries.
