Nintendo legend and creative mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto is almost 74, and while he has taken a step back in recent years, he's still quite active within the Japanese video game company.

We saw him host a pre-recorded Pikmin Direct last week, but he was absent during the Q & A of Nintendo's financial briefing this week. If you are wondering what might be going on, according to a translation of Nintendo's official document, he's been sick and unable to attend.

While this sudden illness has raised some concerns online, there's apparently no need to worry, as he is now in a stable condition and is expected to bounce back and return to work in a few days to a week (via David Gibson).

This follows last month's news, revealing Miyamoto would become the first game developer to receive Japan's prestigious Order of Culture award. This event actually took place earlier this week in Tokyo, but Miyamoto was not in attendance, according to The Japan Times.

Miyamoto's name has most recently featured in the credits of the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, where he's credited for his work on "original game design". He's also worked closely with Illumination on the Super Mario movies, and has helped co-produce the upcoming live-action Zelda movie, due out next April.
