Kiwis Are Paying Higher Prices For National's Failures

Food prices have risen once again under National.

“This election is about the cost of living, and today’s figures show we have a National government that has made it worse. Every New Zealander is feeling it at the checkout,” Labour finance and economy spokesperson Barbara Edmonds said.

“Mince is up 36 percent since they took office. Bread has jumped 66 percent. Butter is up 72 percent. These aren't luxuries, they're the basics that families need.

“National chose to cut money and investment from communities just when people and businesses needed it most.

“They chose more cuts, more chaos, and higher prices for families.

“Christopher Luxon is too out of touch to see people standing in the supermarket aisle, putting items back on the shelves because they can’t afford them.

“New Zealanders can't afford another three years of rising prices and broken promises.

“Labour has a plan to tackle high prices and make life more affordable.

“Labour will crackdown on big companies who charge excessive prices for essential goods, so Kiwis can get a fair price for the basics.

“We’re making healthcare cheaper, with three free doctor's visits a year. We’re capping public transport to just $20 a week. And we’ll tackle your power bills with SolarSaver.

“These are the choices Labour is making to make your life better. Better starts now,” Barbara Edmonds said.
