Walking around New York City, there isn’t much that could draw one’s eye to the ground. With DKNY, Renfro Brands is hoping to change that.

Renfro Brands — the company that manufactures socks, legwear and apparel for the likes of K.Bell, Polo Ralph Lauren, New Balance and more — has been named as DKNY and DKNY Sport’s exclusive licensee for men’s and women’s socks and hosiery.

“The partnership supports our broader strategy of building a diversified portfolio of powerful lifestyle brands,” said Kadian Langlais, chief brand officer of Renfro Brands. “DKNY has an unmistakable point of view. It is modern, confident and inherently New York, and we believe socks and hosiery should express that same fashion authority.”

It’s hard to separate DKNY from the city that inspired it. Founded in 1989 in New York City, the brand is now a key part of G-III Apparel Group’s portfolio. Renfro Brands plans to capitalize on that New York energy and infuse it into the legwear.

In the past, DKNY socks have been understated, generally within wearable neutrals. Under the new licensing arrangement, the plan is to incorporate modern designs with hints of unexpected fashion details, while still continuing to sell everyday essentials. For their core items, it will cost from $24 to $30 for three sets of socks.

“Socks have evolved from functional essentials into an important expression of personal style, with Gen Z accelerating that shift. We’re seeing growing interest in statement socks, layering, textures and expressive hosiery. Consumers increasingly view these categories as accessible ways to experiment with fashion,” said Langlais. “We believe this evolution has staying power, creating exciting opportunities for fashion brands like DKNY.”
