Turkish denim mill Orta is shutting down, according to rumors that it is going out of business.
“We can confirm that Orta continues to operate as usual,” a representative from the company told SJ Denim.
“We have recently made some pricing adjustments in response to rising costs in our supply chain, and we remain fully committed to serving our customers with the same quality they have always known,” the rep continued.
Rumors about the mill closing began circulating a few weeks ago. It was also widely discussed at Denim PV in Milan last week. Several representatives from other mills said they’ve heard about Orta winding down. Others said Orta employees have been searching for job opportunities; another said their company is fulfilling orders for Orta’s clients.
Orta did not exhibit at Denim PV. However, the company did present its Fall/Winter 2027-2028 collection at Kingpins Amsterdam in April.
Known for R&D and introducing first-to-market products, the F/W 27-28 collection features Archroma’s new wool waste-based dye solution, cashmere wool blends and an expanded range of finishes and overdyes.
