Sourcing Journal has just released its 2026 Fall Summit Report, which examines how supply chain and sourcing executives in the apparel and footwear industries perceive growing geopolitical uncertainty, shifting trade policies and new regulatory mandates as they prepare for 2027.
The report features Industry Pulse, Sourcing Journal’s inaugural executive sentiment survey, which polled 142 executives in the industry and found that 46.7 percent of them have a “cautiously optimistic” view of their supply chain. Half of respondents forecast a moderate increase in the total volume of goods sourced for their companies in 2027.

In addition, the report spotlights significant industry shifts, including how capital expenditure is being shifted towards sourcing diversification as well as automation via high-density automation, robotics and real-time end-to-end AI-powered supply chain tracking.
Sourcing Journal editors also look at how European Union regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and Digital Product Passports (DPPs) are set to become stringent and how leading retail and logistics companies are preparing for supply chain tracking in real-time.
The report also includes “The Great Hedge,” a series of Q&A’s with key senior executives at major corporations discussing their approaches to managing risk, including insight from Nick Prentiss, the founder and CEO of Bread, Sonia Lapinsky, an industry expert from AlixPartners, Omair Tariq, co-founder and CEO of Cart.com, and François-Ghislain Morillion, co-founder of Veja. Their observations highlight the strategies that are currently being employed to build and manage sustainable, flexible supply chains that involve nearshoring, the use of real-time landed costs and ways to handle the risks presented by energy volatility as well as those brought about by climate change.
The sponsors of the edition of the report include Cotton Incorporated, Global Standards, Supima, DSV and Hyosung.
