UK: Russell Brand charged with two more sex offenses

British comedian Russell Brand has been charged with two more sex offenses, UK police said on Tuesday, in addition to existing charges.

Police in the United Kingdom said on Tuesday that British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged with two additional sex offenses — a new count of rape and another of sexual assault.

Brand is already under investigation on five charges made in April involving four women — ​two counts of rape, one of indecent assault, and two of sexual assault.

The new charges relate to two other women.

Brand, 50, will appear ‍at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on January 20 in ​relation to the new charges.

A trial ⁠on ​the earlier charges is scheduled to ‌begin ‌at Southwark Crown Court, also in London, on June 16.

Brand pleaded not guilty in May.
