Nick Knowles’s stint on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing has been thrown into uncertainty after he sustained an injury to his shoulder and arm.

The DIY SOS star was injured while changing a tyre, but has continued practising with his dance partner Luba Mushtuk.

He will learn on Thursday afternoon if he can remain in the competition and compete this Saturday, September 28.

The 62-year-old shared in a video on social media that his future on the popular reality series would be confirmed on Thursday, reports The Mirror.

Nick also assured fans on Wednesday that his shoulder is “repairing very well” following a successful rehearsal for Saturday’s American Smooth trial.

Nick said: "So a bit of an update for you. I've just got out of soaking in the bath after a day's training, which went very, very well.

"The shoulder is repairing very well. I saw a great physio today as well that's helped enormously."

"So, I get another day's training tomorrow. The decision will be made tomorrow afternoon, whether I can actually compete on Saturday.

"I'm doing my level best to get there - keeping my fingers crossed. So, hopefully see you Saturday."

His eyes on the prize, Nick has reportedly appealed to the show’s executives for the green light to remain in the competition.

Insiders told The Sun: "Nick is desperate to carry on and is insisting he is fine to perform but the BBC are naturally wary.

"If Nick continues and does more damage to himself in the long run it puts them in a tricky position. His health comes first but Nick is pleading with them to continue."

Even if Nick is permitted to stay, he would be left with little time to nail the choreography before the big night. A source said: "Nick needs to learn a whole routine, he has barely any time at all. If he is cleared he will need to learn quickly.

"Luba is an amazing teacher and she is confident they can do it. But, ultimately, it might get to a point that the BBC just put their foot down."

After he was injured, Nick revealed the news to fans via social media. Appearing in a sling, he said on Instagram: "As you can see my arm is in a sling and that's because my car broke down at the side of the motorway.

"I had my little boy in the car, so I wanted to change the tyre as quickly as possible. In the process of hurrying to get the wheel off, I managed to damage my shoulder and arm a little. I'm not sure how, but it's been quite painful."
