NASHIK, May 8: Nida Khan, the key accused in the Nashik TCS conversion case, was arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Thursday, days after a court rejected her anticipatory bail plea, police said.

Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik said the arrest was carried out with the assistance of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar police and the local crime branch.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Nashik police is probing nine cases related to allegations of molestation and harassment at the IT company’s Nashik unit. Khan is named as an accused in a case registered at Deolali Camp police station.

She had approached a Nashik court on April 18 seeking anticipatory bail and interim protection from arrest, citing pregnancy, but her plea was rejected on May 2.

According to the FIR, Khan allegedly targeted employees through a WhatsApp group, pressuring them to pray and consume non-vegetarian food, and advising women to dress and behave in line with Islamic traditions.

She has also been accused by complainants of ignoring grievances and, in some instances, asking women employees to withdraw complaints. Khan has since been suspended by the company.

However, Tata Consultancy Services clarified that Khan was neither an HR manager nor responsible for recruitment. In a statement, CEO and MD K Krithivasan said she worked as a process associate without any leadership role.

So far, the SIT has arrested eight persons, including a female operations manager, after registering nine FIRs involving allegations of exploitation, attempted forced conversion, hurting religious sentiments, molestation, and mental harassment of women employees.

Khan has been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to sexual harassment and defamation, along with relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, as the complainant belongs to a Scheduled Caste. (Agencies)
