SRINAGAR, Dec 19: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in a fake Railway recruitment scam, booking three accused, including the original complainant, officials said on Friday.

The chargesheet was presented before the court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Beerwah, Budgam, against the accused for allegedly duping job aspirants by issuing forged appointment letters purportedly issued by the Railway Recruitment Board, New Delhi.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Hamid Sheikh of Chewdara, Budgam; Adil Shah of Sonwarhere, currently residing in Zewan, Srinagar; and Mufti Ghulam Hassan Kumar of Sopore, presently living in Beerwah, Budgam.

The case originated from a written complaint filed by Kumar, who alleged that Sheikh and Shah had provided him fake Railway appointment letters. During investigation, it was found that the forged letters carried fabricated seals and a fake signature of the DGM, Northern Railway, Paharganj, New Delhi.

A detailed probe by the EOW prima facie established that the accused acted in connivance, lured victims on the promise of government jobs and collected substantial amounts of money. Verification of several appointment letters confirmed them to be forged.

Investigators further revealed that the complainant, Kumar, was himself actively involved in the scam, having taken money from other victims and issued fake job orders to them. Based on the evidence collected, a final report under Section 173 of the CrPC has been submitted before the court for judicial determination. (Agencies)
