New Delhi: The Centre has notified the implementation of the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-G RAM G), which will be rolled out nationwide from July 1, the Rural Development Ministry said.

The Act guarantees 125 days of wage employment annually and aims to strengthen rural livelihoods, with a provision of ₹95,692 crore allocated in the current financial year for its implementation.

Replacing the 20-year-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, the new law increases the statutory employment guarantee from 100 to 125 days, targeting enhanced income security and accelerated rural development.

The framework emphasises timely, transparent and accountable wage payments, and includes a provision for unemployment allowance if work is not provided within the stipulated time.

The Act is aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, aiming to boost employment generation and strengthen rural economies.

To promote greater participation of women, the law mandates childcare support at worksites. A woman worker will be assigned to care for children wherever five or more children below the age of five are present, ensuring inclusivity and enabling women to work without disruption.
