A LECTURER of business studies at Highlands College has been nominated for Teacher of the Year.
Her daughter, Sophie Dutton has nominated Mrs Zimmerman and said: “I have watched her spend countless evenings and late nights planning lessons, activities and she often asks me to help test out games to make sure they will be fun for her class.”
Ms Dutton praised Mrs Zimmerman’s constant drive to make every student feel excited and capable of succeeding by approaching teaching in a way which keeps her students constantly engaged.
Her nominator noted the extensive collection of thank-you cards with kind messages and gifts from students “who have all been positively impacted and want Mrs Zimmerman to know the difference she has made to them”.
“Seeing the impact she has on so many people makes me incredibly proud to call her my mum,” added Ms Dutton.
