DFDS has recorded another month of passenger growth on its Jersey ferry routes, with its Poole service leading the way as demand continued to rise heading into the peak summer season.
The ferry operator said passenger numbers on its Poole-Jersey route increased by 21% in June compared with the same month last year.
Its Saint Malo service was up 8%, while passenger numbers on the Portsmouth route remained broadly unchanged.
The figures continue what DFDS described as a strong start to the summer, following an earlier announcement that bookings for travel between June and September were running 25% ahead of the same point last year.
Chris Parker, DFDS route director for Jersey, said the latest figures suggested customers continued to respond positively to the company’s services.
“We are very encouraged by the growth recorded on our Poole and St Malo services, while passenger numbers on the Portsmouth route have remained steady,” he said.
“These figures suggest that customers continue to value the choice, reliability and range of services we provide, including high-speed connections to the UK and France alongside our conventional overnight service to Portsmouth.”
The company has not disclosed the total number of passengers represented by the percentage increases.
