An Islander has been nominated for the Volunteer/Fundraiser of the Year award in recognition of  his “extraordinary and sustained commitment” to supporting vulnerable people. Tim Ringsdore’s nominator, Katy Ringsdore, said he gave “an enormous amount of his time” to supporting homeless people in Jersey in his role as chair of the Sanctuary Trust.

Ms Ringsdore explained that his contribution went far beyond sitting on the board. She explained that he had slept outside each parish hall once a month as part of his “12 parish sleep out” and had spent seven consecutive days sleeping rough in St Aubin while continuing his work as usual.

“What makes Tim particularly deserving of this award, however, isn’t simply the miles walked, nights spent outside or or money raised. It is his genuine belief in Jersey’s community and his determination to use his own time and profile to help others” said Ms Ringsdore,

“He never does it for recognition. He does it because he cares” Mr Ringsdore also walked every road in jersey, covering more than 700 miles and racking up 1.36 million steps, raising over £5,000 for Autism Jersey and the JSPCA
