A ST Helier gym has sought to reassure customers that it remains “fully operational” after a legal notice was published stating its movable assets could be seized to recover an unpaid debt.
As reported by the JEP on Friday, a Notice of Distraint – an order that a debtor’s assets may be seized – was issued against One Motivation gym on 5 June and published on the Jersey Gazette.
News of the Distraint, which was published on the Jersey Gazette on gov.je, led to concerns among some customers over their memberships – particularly those who had recently signed up for discounted six- or 12-month memberships.
However, the gym has now moved to reassure customers.
It told the JEP in a statement that the notice related to what it described as “historic matters” from 2022 and 2024, and that a payment plan had already been agreed with the Viscount.
“One Motivation has continued to operate as normal since the notice was issued, and all memberships continue to be honoured,” the team said.
“The Notice of Distraint has no impact on the day-to-day running of the business, our services, or our ability to serve our members.
“One Motivation remains fully operational, continues to welcome members as normal, and remains committed to providing the same level of service our members expect.
“Beyond this, we have nothing further to add at this time.”
