Autism Jersey to partner with retailer to launch ‘new and used’ school uniform initiative

A LOCAL charity is launching an initiative to reduce the costs of school uniforms in partnership with a major high-street retailer.
Autism Jersey is working alongside Marks & Spencer in a “joint campaign” to help parents save on the costs of new school uniforms for some families, and allow others families to receive “good quality” used school uniforms at a “greatly reduced” price.
The initiative will see families being able to go into Autism Jersey’s boutique store at The Parade, donate their old but still wearable school uniforms, and be given a voucher for 10% of a new school uniform voucher to be used in the M&S King Street store.
Donated uniforms will be processed by volunteers for the charity who will check that all donated stock is in clean and in good condition.
Lesley Harrison, head of charitable services at Autism Jersey, said: “We are delighted to be able to work with the team at M&S Jersey to support those with school age children and help make their money go a little further in the current financial climate.
“We’re also delighted this scheme will be supporting our ethical and environmental values through the recycling of pre-loved clothing through our Autism Jersey Boutique.”
Parents are asked to donate the uniforms to the Autism Jersey boutique by 14 August and use the 10% off new school uniform vouchers at M&S King Street by 26 September.
