NIGHT TALES CLUB Trailer Teases Spooky Supernatural Horrors Ahead of Disney+ Premiere
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantDisney+ is getting ready to unleash some seriously creepy Japanese horror with Night Tales Club, a new six-episode supernatural anthology series arriving in January 2027. The first trailer has dropped, offering a taste of the disturbing mysteries and bizarre encounters waiting for viewers.
Based on a collection of short horror stories by Sawamura, the series centers on Zenichi Hojo, a successful businessman with an obsession for the unexplained. Played by Takayuki Yamada, Hojo is determined to uncover the truth behind strange phenomena known as "bugs," even if digging into these mysteries brings him face-to-face with some terrifying discoveries.
The trailer kicks off with an eerie look at a massive warehouse-like building as lights across the city suddenly go dark. A man's scream breaks through the darkness before we're introduced to Hojo, who has an unusual proposition for anyone who's experienced something they can't explain.
In a recorded video, Hojo offers a reward of 20 million yen in gold to anyone who can deliver legitimate proof that these supernatural anomalies exist. That's a pretty impressive payday, but collecting the reward won't be easy.
Hojo has three strict requirements. Every report must be completely truthful and backed by verified facts, there must be an actual victim involved, and the person making the claim must provide unique physical evidence. He's clearly taking this supernatural investigation business seriously.
The six-part series will feature a different horror story in each episode, with Yamada's Hojo serving as the connecting character. It's an interesting approach that gives the show room to explore different kinds of supernatural nightmares while keeping one familiar face at the center of the madness.
The directing lineup includes Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Takashi Shimizu, Shinzo Katayama, Yukiko Sode, Yuichiro Sakashita, Yosuke Nakamura, and Kenji Nakajima.
Horror fans will recognize Kurosawa for his work on Cure and Pulse, while Shimizu is best known for bringing Ju-On: The Grudge to life. Having filmmakers with that kind of experience involved certainly makes this project worth keeping an eye on.
Disney+ hasn't announced an exact premiere date yet, but Night Tales Club is officially scheduled to arrive in January 2027.
