Plymouth court list: New cases as man left with £500 headache

Driving offences of one sort or another once again make up the bulk of the magistrates' time and effort with numerous motorists risking their licence by imbibing, smoking or snorting before getting behind the wheel of their car.

Most have automatically lost their driving licence for several months or longer, as well as be hit with fines and court costs, as well as the embarrassment and indignity of appearing in the court list here.

It may also be a talking point that convicted criminals who have breached court orders to attend meetings with the aim of rehabilitating them without sending them to prison are handed fines of £80 or usually less, whereas the man who dropped a cigarette butt was left more than £500 out of pocket.

DRIVING OFFENCE

REBAZ IBRAHIM RASUL, aged 25 of Kirton Place, Plymouth: Failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence. Fined £150. Victim surcharge £60. Court costs £85. Driving record endorsed six points.

JOSEPH MARTIN CHISWELL, aged 26 of Madden Road, Plymstock : Drove on Kings Road without suitable insurance. Mitigating circumstances. Fined £430. Victim surcharge £172. court costs £90. Driving record endorsed six points.

GARY STANAWAY-IVEY, aged 50 of Alexandra Road, Ford: Kept a vehicle which was unlicensed. Fined £20. Ordered to pay excise back duty of £1.67.

PLYMOUTH SCAFFOLDING SW LIMITED, of Renaissance Gardens, Plymouth: Drove Ford Transit on Budshead Road when there was no test certificate in force for the vehicle. Drove Ford Transit on Budshead Road for which no plating certificate had been issued when the maximum gross weight, namely 5170, shown on the manufacturer's plate was equalled. Fined £440 and £909. Victim surcharge £540. Court costs £152.

JESSICA JOYCE KATHLEEN HOBBS, aged 27 of Moethecombe Walk, Leigham: Failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle alleged to have been guilty of an offence on two occasions. Fined £180 for both offences. Victim surcharge £72 for both offences. Court costs £90. Driving record endorsed six points. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.

ARON JAY CROCKER, aged 39 of Victoria Road, Plymouth: Failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence. JOHN BUCK, aged 34 of Clifton Street, Plymouth: Drove Ford Mondeo on Beaumont Road whilst disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence. Use of Ford Mondeo without suitable insurance. Court costs £85. Victim surcharge £80. Fined £200. Disqualified from driving for nine months.

JOSHUA BACK, aged 33 of Austin Crescent, Plymouth: Drove on St Levan Road with 56mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath in excess of limit. Court costs £85,. Victim surcharge £299. Disqualified from driving for 16 months. Fined £748.

TODD LONG, aged 34 of Maidenwell Road, Plymouth: Drove on Sandy Road with Benzoylecgonine in blood in excess of specified limit. Possession of 1.5g of class A cocaine in Sandy Road. Fined £300. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.

KEANNA HOLMES, aged 28 of Bampfylde Way, Plymouth: Drove Audi A4 whilst unfit through drink on Bampfylde Way. Court costs £85. Victim surcharge £64. Disqualified from driving for 12 months. Fined £140.

RENARS BALODIS, aged 25 of Sea View Avenue, Plymouth: Drove Audi A5 on Ebrington Street with Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in blood in excess of specified limit. Victim surcharge £26. Conditional discharge for six months. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.

BRIAN LEWIS, aged 61 of Efford Walk, Plymouth: Drove Nissan Qashqai on Bearsdown Road with Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in blood in blood in excess of specified limit. Court costs £85. Victim surcharge £48. Disqualified from driving for 12 months. Fined £120.

JACK HARRIS, aged 31 of Earls Wood Drive, Plymouth: Drove Ford Mondeo on Plymbridge Road with 108mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath in excess of prescribed limit. Court costs £85. Victim surcharge £261. Disqualified from driving for 24 months. Fined £653.

DAVID BROOKES, aged 36 of no fixed abode, Plymouth: Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the supervision requirements imposed following release from a period of imprisonment. Fined £50

WILLIAM WILLIAMSON, aged 25 of no fixed abode, Plymouth: Breach domestic violence protection order by entering named street in Plymouth and being in company of named person. Fined £50.

ETHAN EVANS-BALL, aged 24 of Park Avenue, Devonport : Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order by failing to attend appointment. Fined £80.

FLYTIPPING

JASON PECK, aged 53 of Wolseley Road, Plymouth: Dropped litter - namely cigarette waste - in Wolseley Road. Fined £220. Victim surcharge £88. Court costs £250.

ASSAULT

ELLIE CARTER, aged 22 of Greenbank Avenue, Plymouth: Assaulted named woman causing actual bodily harm at Chester Guest House in Stuart Road. Victim surcharge £114. Community order - Alcohol treatment at Harbour for six months. Rehabilitation activity up to 10 days. Compensation £100.

JUDY GYLPHION, aged 55 of Orchard Road, Plymouth: Assaulted named man in Cornwall Street, occasioning actual bodily harm. Court costs £85. Community order - Unpaid work 100 hours. Compensation £150.

ASSAULT EMERGENCY WORKER

JUSTIN GODEFROY, aged 27 of Albert Road, Plymouth: Assault by beating of an emergency worker - a police constable - at Colin Campbell Court car park. Compensation £150. Jail for 10 weeks because of an unprovoked attack of a serious nature.

Theft of nine bottles of alcohol including Koppaberg, Old Mout and Henry Westons which came to a total value of £29.35, belonging to CO-OP, Wilton Street. Theft of two packs of 4xThatchers Gold, 1 bottle of Koppaberg mixed fruit, one bottle of Koppaberg strawberry and lime and one pack of Tampax pearl super which came to a total value of £19.70 belonging to CO-OP, Wilton Street.
