The Federal Government has approved a new consolidated salary structure for staff of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), alongside an updated condition of service.

The approval was conveyed in an official communication issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and addressed to the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

According to the letter, dated April 29, 2026, and signed by Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, Permanent Secretary, General Services, on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the revised salary structure will take effect from June 1, 2026.

“I am directed to convey that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has approved the recommended consolidated salary structure for NiMet with an effective date of June 1, 2026,” the letter stated.

The document, referenced No. 58957/S.2/T1/40, was titled “Re-Request for Salary Relativity Implementation in the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).”

It further confirmed that the approval aligns with an earlier request by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, as contained in its correspondence dated March 23, 2026.

The development signals a formal adjustment in the remuneration framework for NiMet personnel, with implementation scheduled to commence in mid-2026.
