Naira exchange rate today, September 18, 2026: Naira appreciates against USD after depreciation

The naira appreciated slightly against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Friday, ending three straight days of depreciation.

Central Bank of Nigeria data showed that the naira strengthened marginally to N1,331.20 on Friday from N1,331.28 traded on Thursday.

This means that the naira gained N0.08 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.

Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained unchanged on Friday at N1,392 per dollar, the same exchange rate traded on Thursday.

Friday’s mixed sentiment across the official and black markets comes as the country’s external reserves stood at $54.69 billion as of September 17, 2026, according to data from the apex bank.
