The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has slammed a N15 million fine on RwandAir over a violation of consumer protection regulations.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, disclosed this in a post on X on Friday.

Achimugu stated that the airline was fined N15 million for failing to resolve a passenger’s baggage complaint within the stipulated timeframe.

“The NCAA has sanctioned RwandAir for consumer protection-related infractions.

“The airline has been fined a sum of fifteen million naira for its failure to resolve a baggage issue within the stipulated timeframe,” Achimugu said.

He further revealed that the agency also ordered RwandAir to replace the passenger’s damaged bag and pay $170 in compensation, in line with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.

The agency, therefore, issued a stern warning that airlines failing to process passenger refunds within the timeframe specified in Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023 would face sanctions.

DAILY POST recalls that in February 2025, five domestic airlines were sanctioned for various infractions.
