Edo: Okpebholo signs N675bn 2025 budget into law

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo on Tuesday signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill of N675 billion into law, saying that the budget will revive the economy of the state.

DAILY POST reports that Okpebholo who assented to the budget into law at the Government House, added that it will deliver the dividend of democracy to the people of the state.

According to him, “I have just signed into law, a budget of N675,220,058,858.52 tagged a renewed Hope budget for a rising Edo.

“It is my hope that the 2025 approved budget will revive the economy of Edo State and deliver the dividend of democracy to the good people of the state.

“In preparing the budget, special care was taken to ensure that a larger percentage was appropriated for capital expenditure. The administration is committed to embarking on a massive capital project in the new fiscal year.”

The governor commended the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku and other members of the State House of Assembly for the speedy consideration and passage of the budget.

Earlier while presenting the bill to the governor, Agbebaku said the budget was significantly increased from the initial sum of N605 billion to ensure that more funds are allotted to the agricultural sector.

DAILY POST recalls that the House of Assembly in passing the budget on Monday at plenary shored up the budget estimates from N605,776,065,857.34 earlier presented on December 10, 2024 to N675,220,058,858.52.
