Nigerians prefer buying forms for politicians who failed them — Shehu Sani

by · Daily Post

Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has suggested that Nigerian youths prefer contributing money to purchase nomination forms for older politicians instead of supporting candidates from their own generation.

Sani stated this in a post shared on X on Sunday.

According to him, young Nigerians have continued to channel their energy into backing political elites “that failed their generation” rather than mobilising themselves politically.

Sani urged youths to transform their social media influence into political participation and take advantage of the “Not Too Young To Run Act” to contest elections.

He wrote: “Why are the youths not contributing money to buy forms for the members of their generation to contest elections, but prefer to buy forms for the political elites ‘that failed their generation’.

“Why not transform their Social Media energy to Political Energy. Why are they not taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN ACT?”
