Eredivisie: Arokodare rescues point for Ajax against Excelsior

Tolu Arokodare helped Ajax salvage a draw in their Eredivisie home clash against Excelsior on Saturday night.

Julian Brandt gave Ajax the lead two minutes after the half-hour mark.

The visitors, however, rallied, with Lennard Hartjes netting the equaliser in first-half stoppage time.

Excelsior took the lead for the first time in the game through Aymen Sliti in the 62nd minute.

Arokodare, who replaced Kasper Dolberg two minutes after the hour mark, restored parity for Ajax in the 64th minute.

It was the Nigeria international’s sixth goal across all competitions for the Dutch giants this season.

Ajax remain in second position with 14 points from seven matches.

Michel’s side will host NEC Nijmegen in their next league game on Saturday, October 10.
