- The planned regeneration of Dublin city’s Oliver Bond flats was scrapped after the Department of Housing withdrew funding for the project.
- The HSE is to pause recruitment for some non-frontline roles in three of its six health regions as it grapples with a significant overspend across the health service.
- The exchequer went from a €2.8 billion surplus last year to a €4.7 billion deficit this year, according to the end-April figures released by the Department of Finance today.

#HANTAVIRUS: A plane believed to be carrying a passenger from a cruise ship struck by the deadly hantavirus landed in the Netherlands this evening after patients were evacuated from the vessel off Cape Verde.
#US: The creator of television news network CNN, Ted Turner, died at the age of 87.
