Xbox CEO Asha Sharma posted a letter today that had been sent to Xbox staff, which revealed around 4,800 job cuts, but also positives. Compulsion Games (We Happy FewSouth of Midnight) and Double Fine (PsychonautsKeeper) going indie and Ninja Theory and Undead Labs  being sold off.

“We are also making reductions across other units, and in some cases, shifting investment to focus on higher priority projects. These changes vary in size across Activision, Bethesda/ZeniMax, Blizzard, King, Mojang, and XBOX Game Studios.,” she stated.

That sentence is doing a lot of heavy lifting as we have a report from Scott Miller, co-founder of 3D Realms, that the “majority of ID’s studio is being laid off, including most (if not all) coders”.

Kotaku are reporting sources that suggest half of Zenimax Online (The Elder Scrolls Online) have been let go.

Community manager Jessica Folsom posted on the ESO forum that they are still committed to the game, but ” the roadmaps we previously shared will be shifting. We want to take the time to evaluate the work in front of us and then lock down an updated schedule.”
