Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition arrives today

The Nintendo Switch 2 continues its stellar growth towards a full library today, with SEGA’s announcement that Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrives today. In even better news for owners of the original Switch version, this is a free upgrade for existing owners, something that some publishers – cough, Square Enix, cough – would do well to take note of. Thanks SEGA!

This new Switch 2 release features key improvements over the original Nintendo Switch version, including the implementation of a 60FPS framerate and higher-quality visuals. Plus, along with the standard 2-player local and online VS Mode, the game will have cross-gen support between Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users, allowing even more players to join the fray.

The digital Standard Edition is available for a very reasonable £34.99, and includes the Base game and two Character Unlock Keys: Academy Rengoku and Academy Uzui.

Players who own Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 either digitally or physically on Nintendo Switch will be able to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version at no additional cost through a free upgrade pass. Unfortunately, the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” Character Pass is not included as part of the upgrade pass, so users will need to purchase the Character Pass separately through Nintendo eShop. Which, is a mild disappointment, but few things are totally free these days.

Today’s launch also coincides with another important milestone for the franchise: The Hinokami Chronicles series, which includes Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles and Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2, has surpassed an impressive six million units sold.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available now for Nintendo Switch 2. The game is also currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Steam and Nintendo Switch.
