The dogs and cats homeless this Christmas who need to find a loving family in 2026

Muffin

This is six-year-old mix breed Muffin. She’s incredibly loving and loyal and forms very strong attachments to one person in particular. Because of this, she would be best suited to a one-person household where she can build a close bond and feel emotionally secure. She has shown reactivity on the lead towards strangers, both men and women, and appears to have a particular distrust of men. Because of this, she would be best suited to a confident, experienced owner who can help her continue to build trust at her own pace. Muffin needs a quiet, adult-only home with no children, including visiting children. In the home, Muffin is clean, non-destructive, and calm. She may bark at unfamiliar noises, so a peaceful environment would suit her well. A secure garden would be ideal, allowing her time outdoors without constant exposure to the triggers she may encounter on walks.

Pinot

Three-year-old Pinot is a gorgeous mixed breed pooch who will need a calm, patient, and experienced home - someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let him progress gently, on his own terms. A secure garden is essential while he’s unable to walk on a lead, as it will allow him the freedom to explore safely and continue his journey of healing and confidence-building.

Miracle

Two-year-old Miracle is a sweet, shy, and sensitive girl who is full of love. Once she builds trust, she blossoms into an affectionate and loyal companion who adores gentle cuddles and calm company. In the home, Miracle is generally a perfect house guest. She much prefers a quiet, chilled-out lifestyle and isn’t suited to a busy or overly active environment. After multiple placements, she is desperately in need of stability now, and her future family must be committed to giving her a consistent, predictable home life. She has recently developed reactive behaviour towards strangers entering the home, so she will need slow, careful introductions and a family prepared to support her through this.
