We've picked out some of the best deals for Amazon Prime Day

23 best Amazon Prime Day deals worth buying as picked by our shopping expert

by · Manchester Evening News

Amazon Prime Day has arrived. At a minute past midnight the internet giant slashed prices on thousands of items, ranging from everyday essentials to top-of-the-list Christmas toys. Forget Black Friday, a day shared with all its competitors, October's Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sees the internet giant mostly basking in its own limelight.

This makes Prime Day the first and, arguably for Amazon shoppers, the best chance this autumn to snag huge discounts on both necessities and luxuries. After all, barring the odd other brand currently running sales - most notably Debenhams and LookFantastic, Amazon has the best discount day in town. But how can you ensure you're making the most of Prime Day?

This is my ninth Amazon sale event, and I believe I've got a solid understanding of the sale's mechanics. Over the years, I've accumulated numerous tips on securing genuine, substantial bargains and avoiding buyer's regret from a hasty impulse purchase - whether it's mine or someone else's. The most critical step to secure the best Prime Day deals is also the simplest - you need to be an Amazon Prime member.

Black Friday deals are open to all Amazon shoppers, but this week's offers are for a more exclusive group, reports the Mirror. But. if you're not currently a Prime member - although there are plenty of perks that make it worthwhile beyond the initial free delivery and exclusive deals - now is the perfect time to sign up for the free trial. You can access all the best deals today and then simply cancel before the 30 days are up, and it won't cost you a penny.

With every major Amazon sale offering a spreadsheet of over 100,000 deals on everything from tech to toys, it's easy to become overwhelmed and lose sight of the real bargains. However, many listed deals are for budget or unbranded names or low-value items.

To snag the best bargains, Amazon Prime members should keep an eye out for a handful of sales on well-known brands like Ninja, Shark, Remington, COSRX, Samsung, Lego and Apple - in recent years, Airpods deals have been a consistent best-seller and AirPods 2 have been reduced to £179 this morning and are already selling well.

Meanwhile, Amazon devices, traditionally home to some of the biggest discounts as the brand has more wiggle room on pricing have some truly remarkable discounts including a Fire 7 tablet for just £29.99 reduced from £64.99 which might be my first personal purchase of the day - not least because at that price it's cheaper than a Kindle and does more for the money. But there's plenty of other options too.

Our best October Amazon Prime Day deals so far

The Apple AirPods Pro 2 Wireless Earbuds
(Image: Amazon)

Apple AirPods Pro 2 - was £229 now £179 (22% off)
These are an Amazon deal event staple that tend to sell well as they're also a recurring theme on many people's Christmas lists. While 22% off doesn't feel as chunky as some of the discounts on tech that are available - even Apple's sister brand Beats is offering 41% off on its Studio Buds taking them to £94.99, for Apple it's the biggest of the year so far.

Shark SmoothStyle Heated Brush and Comb - was £119.99 now £69.99 (42% off)
This might be the best hair gadget I have ever owned - after six months of owning it I untangled the cables of all the others I had in my bathroom cabinet and took them away as it really is the only thing you need. It not only can be used to dry and style your hair at the same time but is great for using on days you don't have time to wash your hair to give it some zhuzh.

This is cheaper than when I bought it and comes with a great storage bag and one of my top recommendations of the sale. It's so good that when I use it my husband looks a bit panicked in a 'I know you look different and better than normal and I should comment on it but I can't put my finger on exactly what you've done' sort of way.

Amazon Fire TV 32-inch 2-Series HD Smart TV - was £249.99 now £139.99 (44% off)
While many deals will last the entire 48-hour sale event, some items, like the Amazon Fire TVs, are known to sell out quickly due to their popularity. Amazon has already flagged these as limited stock and restricted purchases to one per customer. If you're interested, it's advisable to act fast.

COSRX Snail All in One Cream - was £35 now £16.99 (51% off)
The COSRX Snail All in One Cream, usually priced at £35, is now only £16.99, offering a substantial discount. This product is a regular bestseller on Amazon even at full price, but this larger tube is likely to attract more shoppers as it offers better value for money.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 64Gb - was £239 now £149
Samsung is known for throwing in freebies and cashback to tempt shoppers, so if you're looking at something newer then it may be worth holding out till Black Friday to see what they offer. On the other hand, if an affordable entry-level tablet is what you seek, the A9 is currently a solid choice at this reduced price. If you want something in the middle between the two, the S9 FE which includes an SPen perfect for drawing and note-taking, is also a good option and now at its lowest ever price of £349.

The Remington shine therapy wide straighteners are now cut to £34.99 at Amazon
(Image: Amazon)

Remington Shine Therapy Straighteners - was £79.99 now £26.98 (66% off)
The Remington Shine Therapy Straighteners have seen a considerable drop from £79.99 to just £26.98, offering customers 66% in savings. These straighteners, which are consistently on Amazon’s top sellers list, are infused with Argan Oil and boast their lowest price recently.

Ravensburger Star Wars GraviTrax Death Star set - was £99.99 now £69.99 (30% off)
Labelled as a must-have for Christmas 2024 – along with the LEGO Harry Potter Sorting Hat now 27% off – this 201-piece marble run with a space theme is at its all-time low price. If your youngling has included it on their Christmas wishlist, there couldn’t be a better time to grab this Star Wars themed deal.

Celebrations 2.4kg box - was £28 now £21 (25% off)
Whether you're stocking up for Halloween or Christmas, this massive box of favourites including Maltesers, Galaxy, Snickers and more is bigger than most supermarket offerings and cheaper too, costing 86p per 100g compared to £1.09 at Asda and Sainsburys.

Versuni Philips L'Or Barista Sublime Capsule Coffee Machine - was £109.99 now £49.99 (55% off)
For coffee enthusiasts, these kind of deal events are a dream come true with plenty of big-discount options available. This particular machine caught my eye as it's relatively compact for its spec, has great reviews and is at its lowest price since Black Friday 2023.

The Ninja Double Stack is discounted for Prime Day
(Image: Amazon)

Ninja Double Stack XL - was £269 now £209.99 (22% off)
The Ninja Double Stack XL, unveiled at the IFA technology show last month, is now reduced from £269 to £209.99, a saving of 22%. Amazon's version of Ninja's newest airfryer features a limited edition copper design and is at its lowest price since launch.

Shark Corded Upright Vacuum Cleaner - was £229.99 now £131.99 (43%)

The world seems to be split between fans of cordless and corded vacuums. If you're in the latter camp and prefer the power that comes from being plugged into the wall, this vacuum offers great value for money and comes with tools to tackle wood and carpeted floors, crevices and stubborn pet hair. If you do prefer cordless, the Shark Stratos is 42% off at £249.

Crocs Unisex Classic Lined Clog - was £54.99 now £22.24 (60% off)
Crocs are the Marmite of the fashion world and spark heated debates in our shopping team's editorial meetings. If you consider them the comfiest shoes ever made rather than a fashion faux pas, it's worth checking out the colours included in this discount - which makes them cheaper than Crocs own sale.

Ninja Thirsti water bottle - was £34.99 now £19.99 (43% off)
The innovative company has transformed a simple item into a stylish drink bottle that can keep beverages hot, cold or fizzy, eliminating the need for multiple travel cups. With Ninja beloved by shoppers for everything from their ice cream machines to their barbecues, this tempting price point made it inevitably an early top seller this morning. Meanwhile, Stanley enthusiasts can also save 37% on a 0.7l cup.

Oral-B iO3 Electric Toothbrush - was £160, now £59.99 (63% off)
Maintaining sparkling teeth can be difficult, and while electric toothbrushes are an excellent way to maintain oral health between hygienist visits, they can be costly. With over 18,000 customer reviews praising its effectiveness against plaque and gum health improvement, the iO3, now under £60, is a steal.

COSLUS cordless Water Flosser - was £29.99 now £19.99 (33% off)
While toothbrushes are a staple in most people's routines, last Prime Day saw this essential water flosser become a surprising bestseller as shoppers sought to elevate their dental care. This three-speed flosser, which helps remove food from between teeth without causing bleeding gums or damage, is likely to be another popular choice this Prime Day.

Oatly Barista Oat Drink Long Life - was £12.60, now £8.52 (32% off)
Whether it's a reflection of the cost of living crisis or savvy shopping habits, recent years have seen everyday items like dishwasher tablets for 63% off and kitchen roll a third off frequently appear on the Amazon Prime Day bestseller list. With Oatly currently priced at £2 a litre on Ocado, regular consumers with storage space can make significant savings on their cappuccino.
